Ordeal
Before the Ordeal
After the Order of the Arrow unit election, a Scouter is considered a candidate until completion of the Ordeal. It is the purpose of the Ordeal to have the candidate reflect on their own Scout life and character and come to a deeper understanding of the Scout Oath and the principles of the Order of the Arrow.
The following is a checklist of items to bring to your Ordeal (printable form):
- A carving of an arrow with a string at both ends to be worn as a necklace
- Flashlight
- Class A Boy Scout uniform
- Work clothes
- Work gloves
- Toiletries and personal hygiene items
- Poncho or rain coat
- Tarp
- Sleeping Bag
- Insect repellent
- Sunscreen lotion
- Canteen
It is very important that you do not bring any electronics to the ordeal. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Cell Phone
- Gaming devinces
- Laptop
- Etc...
On a final note, please provide the Calcasieu Area Council with an up-to-date Annual Health and Medical Record
After the Ordeal
The National Order of the Arrow website has provided new members with great resources, including a program called Jumpstart Training. We highly encourage that you go through the program, which can be done at your own pace online.
